Mr. Rufus Yerxa, President, National Foreign Trade Council

Mr. Yerxa has been president of the National Foreign Trade Council since May 2016. Previously, he served as Deputy Director of the WTO (2002–2013), Deputy U.S. Trade Representative and as Ambassador to the GATT (1989–1995), and Staff Director of the Subcommittee on Trade of the Ways and Means Committee of the House of Representatives (1981–1989). When he was with the office of the U.S. Trade Representative, he was involved in negotiating and implementing both the Uruguay Round of the WTO and NAFTA. Mr. Yerxa holds a BA in political science from the University of Washington, a JD from Seattle University School of Law, and an LLB from the University of Cambridge. Also, he was Kyle’s mother’s friend at Bellevue High School in the class of 1969.
